The marvellous "Heaven Lake"

The Chonji Lake , or Tainchi Lake, or commonly known as "Heaven Lake", is a crater lake that lies on Mount Paektu, an inactive volcano located on the border between China and North Korea, recently listed by UNESCO.

The lake's surface has an altitude of 2189 meters, making it one of the highest lake in the world.

This beauty is usually covered by ice during the year, but in summer time it's possible to enjoy the colors that this mountain creates, with its large selection of flora of the whole Nature Reserve accesible from the North Korean side.

This lake is also famous for its legendary monster, said to be spotted in the water of the lake from local people, just like the Loch Ness monster in Scotland.
