Xi'An is one of the ancient capitals located in the north west of China.

Xi'An plays an important part in the country being a fast-growing cultural, industrial, educational, research and development centre.

Xi'An has a rich and culturally significant history, been under the control of the most  important dinasties of the history, starting point of the Silk Road, and home of the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.  

The cuisine is particular and different from the rest of China. Yangrou Paomo is a well-known plate in Xi'An, a flat bread soaked in lamb soup with pickled garlic and chilli sauce.

Bicycles are very popular and offer easy transportation in and around the city for many residents. Taxi services are numerous. Cars play a very important role in people's daily life, which also means frequent traffic jams.

With over 280 bus routes and 6 metro lines, public transport is efficient, punctual and also economic to move in and out the centre (about CNY 5 for a daily ticket on one line).

The airport and the High-speed railway make the city well connected to other big centres in Asia.

Important cultural attractions of the city are opera and traditional chinese musicals.
