Officially People's Republic of China is the largest state by total area in East Asia and 4th in the world. With a population over 1.35 billion of people is the world's most populous country. The republic exercise juristition over 22 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities, 2 special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau).
China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest, steppes, deserts, mountain ranges, long rivers, coastlines and ocean. The fauna is very varied with also rare and endangered species.
Being a fast-growing major economy, China has the largest and most complex economy in the world that has seen its prosperity in the last 2.000 years imposing itself as a global superpower.
The history of China is characterized by alternating periods of disharmony among multiple kingdoms and large, harmonized empires. It is common for dynasties to be led by strong statehood that eventually degrade and become incompetent to rule, creating an opening for a new dynasty to take control.
It is very usual in this country to admire the history, monuments and the unicity of the old ages architectures immersed in the technology and in huge metropolitan areas, giving also space to spectacular natural landscapes.

The visa policy of China is very strict and you must obtain one before visiting according to your country unless you come from one of the visa exempt countries (San Marino, Brunei, Singapore, Japan, Seychelles, Mauritius, Bahamas, Fiji and Grenada) or if you own a Mainland Travel Permit (issued only for citiziens of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan). Special administrative regions Hong Kong and Macau maintain independent visa regimes and you may entry without visa. For visiting autonomous regions such as Tibet you will need extra Travel Permit in addition to the Chinese visa.

China may be a huge country but it is very easy and chep to move with efficent transportations, the average cost of a bus ticket is 2 CNY, taxi fares start from 6 CNY, train fares depend by the destinations (average 50 USD) but never exceed 100 USD even for high speed railway and long distance travels.

Activities and attractions are cheap, you can visit some of the top sights for an average of 10 USD, many of them are less than 3 USD.

Food is extremely good as extremely cheap, if low budget you can afford going eating in popular restaurants, but is always reccommended to try small or less known places, most of the time you can get the real taste of the original chinese cuisine, and it is really worthy. Remember not to tip in China.

Some of the biggest metropolitan areas are affected by smog pollution that could be very profuse and could reduce the visibility in certain time. It is always reccomended to wear a pollution mask in some area where the smog is abundant.

Tap water is not safe for drinking, but ok for washing and cleaning teeth, and safe if boiled.

If you plan a visit in high altitude, especially in Himalayas locations, you must do a body check before to travel and eventually going up slowly day by day to avoid altitude sickness that could be seriously fatal for some individual. It is very common to get into unpleasant events in this areas.
