Mount Emei is located in the west of Sichuan Province and is one of the Sacred Buddhist mountains in China. The mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is characterized by lofty ancient trees, impressive waterfalls, pristine brooks and hundreds of Buddhist temples.
The first Buddhist temple was built here in the 1st century CE.
Mount Emei stands over 3000 meters and from the peak, called Golden Summit, it easy to enjoy spectacles, include the sunrise and Clouds Sea, a cloud phenomena, appearing like it flows under the peak as a sea.
The Scenic Area can be reached from the Leshan City, 150 Km south of Chengdu and there are regular high speed train service between the 2 cities for a cost of 62 CNY.
A 2 days park entry ticket costs 185 CNY, some temple in the area may requires extra fees to visit.
To move around the mountain is possible with bus and cable car, or for the adventurers this mountain can be a perfect spot for hiking.
Along the way up, it is very common to meet wild macaques. These animals, are usually peaceful, but sometime, somehow they can be very aggressive and dangerous, as their peace may be at risk because of some bad mannered tourist. It is always adviced to hold tight personal items, such as cameras, handbags, food, etc, as these monkeys are very eager to steal at the expense of the tourist.
Many people prefer to stay overnight in monasteries, as they provide rooms and meals for cheap prices.
The best way to enjoy the park is walking and exploring the area without losing the walking path view, as beautiful panoramas are easy to get spotted.
