


GUANGZHOU

Also known as Canton, Guangzhou is the 3rd largest city in China located in the south east on the Pearl River, not so far away from Hong Kong and Macau.
Guangzhou is part of one of the most populous metropolitan agglomerations on Earth with an important global economic system.
In ancient time named as PanYu (Pan and Yu, names of the two nearby mountains), the city has been an important commerce centre for its port with direct routes connected with Middle East.
The city is part of the Pearl River Delta and the city centre is situated next to the Baiyun Mountain, which is locally referred as "the lung of the city".
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is about 17 miles (28 km) from the city center. It is one of the 3 busiest air transportation hubs in China.
The city offers many ways of transportation on road, most used are subway and water.
Over 500 high quality bus lines, 9 subway lines and 6 water bus that connect sites on and over the river which are very convenient.
Taxi is the most expensive transportation as you will be charged also the "empty return".
All delicious foods are in Guanghzou, with its excellent cantonese cuisine. The most famous dishes are Roast Suckling Pig (Kao Ru Zhu), Dragon Fighting against the Tiger (Long Hu Dou), stewed snake and wild cat, Taiye Chicken (Taiye Ji) and Stewed Wild Dog Meat.
Most of top sights in Guangzhou are part of the world modern architecture, but you can also enjoy history sites and fantastic natural panoramas.
