


HANGZHOU

Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province in the east of China, splitted by the Qiantang river. Hangzhou was one of the seven ancient capitals of China and described by Marco Polo as the finest and most luxurious city in the world.
Historically known as the best site of several merchants, who traded million of goods from the ancient time until now.
Hangzhou is renowned for its historic relics and natural beauty, known as one of the most beautiful and most scenic cities in China. Although Hangzhou has been through many recent urban developments, it still retains its historical and cultural heritage. Today, tourism remains an important factor for Hangzhou's economy.
The city own an international airport, the railway is well connected to major cities in high speed mode, especially with the nearby city of Shanghai.
With nearly 100 lines most of the buses run from 5:00 to 22:00, leaving few of them for the late night. The price goes from 1 to 3 CNY for a single ticket.
An alternative city transportation is the subway still in phase of development that at moment only run 4 lines with a price that does not go over 3 CNY for long distance.
One of Hangzhou's most popular sights is West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which covers a very big area, and includes some of Hangzhou's most notable historic and scenic places. Adjacent to the lake is a scenic area which includes historical pagodas, cultural sites, as well as the natural beauty of the lake and hills.
