Hong Kong, as special Administrative Region of China, is an autonomous territory in the Southern East coast of the country, well known for its skyline and deep natural harbour, in fact the name translated in english means "Fragrant Harbour" referred to the sweet taste of the harbour's fresh water influx of the Pearl River and of the biggest incense factories located around the area.

As former British colony, the official language is English along with Chinese and Cantonese.

It has nominated as the most important financial and trading center in the world because of its geographical position and of one of the largest commercial ports in the world.

Hong Kong runs its own currency, Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), and rules different laws and policies from the mainland China, in fact for most of the countries around the world it does not require a Visa for a short stay.

Life cost is higher than any other city in China, but there are plenty of options for cheap and quality food, you can taste the genuine Dim Sum cuisin. A must try is the Har Gow.

You can save up money of the transportation costs with a travel pass, with 55 HKD a day, you can have an unlimited use of metro, tram and light rail services. The Star ferry that connect the islands costs just 2 HKD. Transportations are very efficent but at night you must find an alternative way to travel, taxi is a good option.

Hong Kong is one of the most favorite tourist destination (only its Disneyland attracts around 5 million of tourist every year), composed of three different islands (Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories), offers fantastic landscapes and points of view where you can admire the city, and visit the top sights.
