Jiuzhai Valley or Jiuzhaigou is the major nature reserve and national park lying on the Min Mountains range in the north of Sichuan province in China on the maximum altitude of 4500 m.

The name means "Valley of Nine Villages", derived from the 9 ancient nearby Tibetan villages that are still active in the territory.

Declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jiuzhaigou is famous for its many multi-level waterfalls and colorful lakes and also as the habitat of the Giant Panda though is extremely rare to see one of them.

The area's landscape that attracts many hikers is made up of mountains, high-altitude karsts, lage valleys, waterfalls and dozens of blue, green and turquoise-colored lakes with water so clear that the bottom is often visible even at high depths. The lakes vary in color and aspect according to their depths, residues, and surroundings offering a unique and stunning view.

The nearest airport is Jiuzhaigou Huanglong, but it is not easy to get access due to limited connections and flights beetween other cities in China.

The main departure points for a visit to the national park by bus are from Chengdu, Chongqing and Xi'an with 2 or 3 daily departures from each station for a price of approximately 150 CNY. The journey takes beetween 8 and 12 hours, traveling over 400 Km through mountains, and windy and dangerous roads. The journey may seem heartbreaking, but you can enjoy a beautiful and spectacular scenary. 

The ticket entrance cost 220 CNY per person during peak season and 80 CNY during low season and it is only open for public between 7am to 7pm. You can move around the site with bus for the cost of 80 CNY a day.

Apart from the view that the nature offers, it is possible to enjoy also Tibetan cultural show attended by aboriginal people who live in the nearby villages.
